Empire, NV is a small unincorporated community located in the northwestern part of the state of Nevada, USA. Situated in the vast and arid Black Rock Desert, Empire is known for its remote and isolated setting. The community was originally established as a company town in the early 1900s to support the gypsum mining operations in the area. However, the town faced a decline in population and economic activity after the mine closed in 2011. Today, Empire is home to a few residents and serves as a gateway to the nearby Black Rock Desert, which attracts visitors for its unique landscape and annual Burning Man festival.
